A New PresentDay Predator Movie Could OneUp Expendables

Although Prey is set in 1719 in 2022 , its popularity has revived the Predator franchise, allowing it to surpass The Expendables . Predator has shaken up the familiar Predator movie formula since the release of Predator in 1987, adding more action, more heroes, more monsters, and even a crossover with alien xenomorphs . fi, it was a perfect way to bring the franchise back to its roots.

Since Amber Midthunder defeats a Yautja hunter with Naru weapons, there are endless possibilities for another encounter in the same time frame. A sneak peek at Prey 2 at the end of the film confirms the likely direction of the sequel, but there's enough interest in future Predator movies to keep the momentum going with everything the Prey series has done. The stage is set for a different type of matchup that can use the Expendables model in a new way to better utilize the Predator legacy.

Here's how Predator produces the following consumables

By bringing together all the past heroes who have known and lived in Yautja, the next Predator movie could feature a team similar to The Expendables working together to take down the Predator or multiple Predators. Survivors from the previous Predator series can gather on Earth and discover their common enemy, or the Yautja can kidnap hunted survivors and subject them to gladiatorial combat or other special challenges on a Predator playable planet. If the action takes place today, it could include survivors from all the previous Predator movies, and of course, that would explain the age of the actors.

Disney almost made Predators 2 instead of Prey , with initial plans focused on another ragtag team battling the galaxy's most famous warriors. This includes survivors old and new coming together to lead a resistance movement on the in-game Predator planet, eventually using one of the Predator ships to return to Earth. Although the film was never made, the concept of humans using their shared experiences with the Yautja to fight is certainly interesting.

How does the basic Predator crossover work?

If future Predator movies are set in the present, a crossover with previous characters could work. Naru vs. Predator As fun as Holland is to watch, the timeline limits the scope of the franchise. The location of Arnold Schwarzenegger's character is unknown, although the Dutchman appears in the novel Predator: Predator : South China Sea to explain where to find Predators, their weaknesses, and how to kill them. A Dutch directorial crossover with someone like 2018's Predator , Quinn McKenna Boyd Holbrook, would be a great way to tie the films together and reference Schwarzenegger's role in The Expendables .

If time travel isn't included in the crossover plot, Naru won't be able to fight alongside modern-day characters, but there's still the possibility of story connections, such as the relationship between her and Danny from Yautja's hawkish cop Mike Harrigan. Glover in Predator 2 , given the same flintlock rifle as his battle trophy by Yautja. Any crossover featuring Predator 's one-off yoga hunters would not only benefit from the nostalgia of seeing them all together, but also provide opportunities for plenty of callbacks, references, and Easter eggs. A tribute to the Predator legacy and possibly the greatest trophy of all time.
